EHS Specialist
EHS Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EHS Specialist to support the development and maintenance of high standards in environmental, health and safety performance. This role will work closely with colleagues, contractors and operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture, ensure legal compliance and reduce workplace risks.
The successful candidate will provide practical advice across day-to-day operations, identify opportunities for continual improvement and help ensure that appropriate systems, procedures and controls are consistently applied. You will be confident communicating with people at all levels and able to influence positive change in a hands-on working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and programmes.
- Complete workplace inspections, risk assessments and audits, ensuring that corrective actions are recorded, communicated and closed out.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and environmental events, identifying root causes and recommending suitable preventative measures.
- Provide guidance on relevant legislation, industry standards and safe systems of work.
- Deliver or coordinate EHS training, inductions, briefings and awareness campaigns for employees and contractors.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and performance data, contributing to management reviews and improvement plans.
- Support emergency preparedness, environmental monitoring, waste management and the review of contractor performance.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to embed effective controls and encourage employee engagement in EHS matters.
About you
You will have demonstrable experience in an environmental, health and safety role, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering, logistics or similarly regulated setting. A recognised EHS qualification, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, is desirable, alongside a sound understanding of UK health and safety and environmental legislation.
Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills are essential. You should be practical, approachable and confident working independently while managing competing priorities. The ability to influence others, challenge unsafe practices constructively and develop effective working relationships will be key to your success.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to workplace safety, environmental performance and continuous improvement within a supportive professional environment.
