Project Manager – Heavy Civil
An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the successful delivery of major heavy civil engineering projects from inception through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute and safety-focused professional to manage complex construction activities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver high-quality infrastructure within agreed time, cost and quality parameters.
The Role
You will take overall responsibility for project performance, ensuring that works are planned, resourced and executed in accordance with approved programmes, specifications and contractual obligations. Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you will provide clear leadership throughout all stages of delivery.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of heavy civil engineering projects, including planning, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed programmes, budgets, forecasts, risk registers and resource plans.
- Lead project teams and coordinate site operations, engineering, commercial, procurement and health and safety activities.
- Monitor progress against key milestones, taking prompt corrective action where required.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, design standards, environmental controls and relevant legislation.
- Promote a positive health, safety, quality and environmental culture across all project activities.
- Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to reviews, audits and commercial discussions.
About You
You will have a proven track record of managing large-scale heavy civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally within highways, earthworks, structures, utilities, rail or related sectors. A recognised qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a similar discipline is desirable, together with relevant professional membership or accreditation.
Strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure are essential. You should be confident managing competing priorities, resolving issues proactively and motivating teams to achieve demanding project objectives. Experience with contract administration, cost control and industry-standard project management systems will be advantageous.
What’s on Offer
A challenging and rewarding position, with the opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure projects, develop your career and work within a collaborative, professional environment. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered in line with experience.
