Working closely with the Project Manager, site teams, subcontractors, designers and suppliers, you will provide technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for resolving engineering challenges, maintaining accurate records and ensuring construction activities comply with approved designs, specifications and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of heavy civil engineering works.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, method statements and risk assessments.
- Managing technical queries, requests for information and design changes.
- Setting out works and checking levels, dimensions and alignment where required.
- Monitoring progress, productivity, quality and compliance against project requirements.
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site-based engineering resources.
- Preparing progress reports, site records, inspection documentation and handover information.
- Assisting with cost control, programme updates and the identification of potential risks.
- Promoting a strong culture of health, safety, environmental responsibility and quality.
About you
You will have experience working in a project engineering role within heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, utilities, earthworks, structures or a related environment. A relevant degree, HNC, HND or equivalent technical qualification is desirable, together with a sound understanding of construction methods, temporary works and engineering principles.
You should be confident interpreting technical information, using engineering and document-control systems, and communicating effectively with colleagues at all levels. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently on a busy construction site are essential. A valid driving licence and relevant site safety qualifications would be advantageous.
In return, this position offers the opportunity to work on challenging infrastructure projects, develop your technical expertise and progress within a supportive, professional environment.
