Job Title: Contract Commissioning Manager - Grid Automation (Onshore Substation)
Location: Poland (Site-based, with potential for flexible rotation)
Contract Duration: 6-12 months (with potential 6-month extension)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (full-time); rotation negotiable
Start Date: ASAP / Negotiable
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager with a strong background in Grid Automation to lead and coordinate commissioning activities for an onshore high-voltage substation project. This is a key role overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient commissioning of automation systems, protection & control, SCADA, and related digital technologies that support modern grid infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end commissioning process for grid automation systems, including substation automation, SCADA integration, protection relays, and communication networks.
Develop, manage, and update the commissioning plan and schedule aligned with project milestones.
Oversee interface testing and integration of automation systems with primary equipment and grid control centers.
Coordinate FATs, SATs, and dynamic system testing in compliance with industry standards and project-specific protocols.
Supervise and support the commissioning team, ensuring adherence to HSE requirements and quality standards.
Work closely with engineering, construction, and OEM teams to ensure systems are technically compliant and ready for energization.
Liaise with stakeholders to align on commissioning scope, manage expectations, and resolve technical issues.
Ensure complete and traceable documentation, including commissioning records, punch lists, and handover dossiers.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience managing commissioning of Grid Automation and Substation Automation Systems (SAS), ideally on high-voltage (132kV and above) substations.
Deep understanding of protection & control systems, SCADA, communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus), and grid integration.
Strong leadership skills in multi-disciplinary project environments, with the ability to manage multiple interfaces and vendors.
Previous experience working with grid automation products and architectures from leading OEMs (GE preferable).
Familiarity with utility standards and regulatory compliance in grid automation contexts.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Fluent in English; Polish language skills advantageous.
Contract Terms
Full-time role, Monday to Friday, site-based in Poland.
Initial 6-12 month contract with potential extension for an additional 6 months.
Flexible rotation schedules can be discussed case-by-case.
