- Provide authoritative engineering assurance and approval for designs, methodologies, specifications and technical changes.
- Lead, develop and mentor engineering teams, promoting collaboration, innovation and a strong safety culture.
- Oversee technical delivery across major track, alignment, renewal and enhancement programmes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, assurance processes and client requirements.
- Manage technical risk, identify opportunities for improvement and support effective decision-making at senior level.
- Build productive relationships with clients, suppliers, delivery partners and industry bodies.
- Contribute to bids, investment decisions, technical reviews and long-term asset strategies.
About you
You will be a chartered engineer or hold an equivalent recognised professional qualification, with substantial experience in rail track engineering and leadership of complex infrastructure programmes. A detailed knowledge of track systems, permanent way principles, construction practices, asset performance and engineering assurance is essential.
You will combine sound technical judgement with commercial awareness and excellent communication skills. The ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage competing priorities and develop high-performing teams will be central to your success. Experience working in regulated rail environments, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement and safe, sustainable delivery, would be highly advantageous.
This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of rail infrastructure while leading a talented engineering community through an exciting period of growth and transformation.
