Traveling Superintendent - Commercial Construction
Travelling Superintendent – Commercial Construction
An experienced Travelling Superintendent is required to oversee the successful delivery of commercial construction projects across multiple locations. This is a site-based role for a confident construction professional who can lead teams, coordinate contractors and maintain high standards of safety, quality and programme performance from mobilisation through to completion.
You will work closely with project managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure each project is delivered efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements. The role will involve regular travel and may require periods away from home, depending on project location and duration.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site teams, deliveries, inspections and specialist trades.
- Review drawings, specifications and programmes, identifying potential issues and implementing practical solutions.
- Monitor progress against project milestones, reporting updates and risks to the project management team.
- Lead site meetings and maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site procedures and environmental requirements.
- Inspect workmanship, manage quality control processes and support the resolution of defects or non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress photographs, permits and inspection documentation.
About you
You will have proven experience supervising commercial construction projects, ideally with exposure to complex builds, refurbishment or fit-out works. A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, health and safety requirements and quality management is essential.
Applicants should demonstrate excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Relevant construction qualifications, recognised site safety training and a valid driving licence are required. Experience using construction management or document control software would be advantageous.
A competitive salary and benefits package is available, along with the opportunity to work on varied projects and progress within a growing construction environment.
