Traveling Superintendent - Healthcare Construction
Travelling Superintendent – Healthcare Construction
An experienced Travelling Superintendent is required to oversee the delivery of healthcare construction projects across multiple locations. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who can lead site operations, maintain high standards and ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of construction activities, working closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors and healthcare stakeholders. Projects may include hospitals, clinics, medical centres and other technically demanding occupied environments, so strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Manage site operations from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and specialist trades.
- Interpret drawings, specifications and construction programmes, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and programme performance against agreed targets.
- Maintain strict compliance with health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Lead site meetings, provide progress updates and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Coordinate works within live healthcare environments, minimising disruption to patients, staff and visitors.
- Support commissioning, inspections, snagging and final project handover.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising commercial or healthcare construction projects, with a strong understanding of complex building services, infection control requirements and working in occupied facilities. A recognised construction qualification, such as an NVQ, HNC, degree or equivalent practical experience, is desirable.
Applicants should demonstrate proven leadership ability, excellent attention to detail and confidence managing multiple stakeholders. Experience with site documentation, scheduling software and construction management systems would be advantageous. Relevant health and safety training, including SSSTS or SMSTS, is expected.
This role involves regular travel and periods away from home, so flexibility is essential. In return, you will receive the opportunity to work on significant healthcare projects, develop your career and contribute to facilities that make a lasting difference to local communities.
