Superintendent - Sports & Entertainment
Superintendent – Sports & Entertainment
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient and successful delivery of sports and entertainment events. This role will oversee operational activities across venues, event spaces and associated facilities, ensuring consistently high standards of service, presentation, compliance and customer experience.
Working closely with internal teams, contractors, event promoters, sporting bodies and other stakeholders, you will coordinate preparations, manage event-day operations and support the delivery of a varied programme of fixtures, performances and special events. You will be a confident leader, able to make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on safety, professionalism and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise operational teams before, during and after sports and entertainment events.
- Coordinate venue readiness, including access, facilities, equipment, housekeeping, security and presentation standards.
- Develop and implement event operating plans, schedules, procedures and contingency arrangements.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety, licensing, safeguarding, emergency and other statutory requirements.
- Work with contractors and service providers to ensure agreed standards, performance targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Manage incidents and operational issues promptly, escalating where appropriate and contributing to post-event reviews.
- Support the planning and delivery of capital works, maintenance activities and venue improvements.
- Prepare operational reports, contribute to budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
About you
You will have proven experience in venue operations, event management, facilities management or a related environment, ideally within sport, entertainment, hospitality or large-scale public events. Experience leading teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders is essential, as is a practical understanding of risk management and safe working practices.
Highly organised and solutions-focused, you will communicate clearly at all levels and remain calm when managing competing priorities. Flexibility is important, as the role will involve evening, weekend and public holiday work in line with the event calendar. A relevant professional qualification, supervisory training or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
