Civil Engineering Project Manager - Land Development
Civil Engineering Project Manager – Land Development
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of land development schemes from initial feasibility through to construction and completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable and commercially aware professional to manage a varied portfolio of projects while working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities.
The role
You will be responsible for coordinating civil engineering design and infrastructure works across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. You will manage projects to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards, ensuring that designs are practical, compliant and delivered efficiently.
- Manage land development projects from concept and planning through to technical approval, construction and handover.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, external consultants, contractors and statutory authorities.
- Oversee the preparation and review of infrastructure designs, including highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks and levels.
- Monitor project programmes, costs, risks, quality and deliverables, taking corrective action where required.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, fee proposals, progress updates and project documentation.
- Support planning applications, Section 38 and Section 104 agreements, and other technical approvals.
- Attend design, progress and stakeholder meetings, providing clear updates and resolving technical issues.
- Assist with business development, client relationship management and the mentoring of junior team members.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have substantial experience managing infrastructure projects within the land development or consultancy sector. A strong understanding of UK highways, drainage and development processes is essential, together with experience of relevant technical approvals and regulations.
You should be commercially astute, highly organised and confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with design and project management software, along with familiarity with Section agreements and planning requirements, would be advantageous. Membership of a relevant professional institution, or progress towards chartership, is desirable.
In return, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, professional development opportunities and the chance to contribute to high-quality, sustainable development projects.
