Construction Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity is available for a Construction Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of construction and infrastructure projects from planning through to completion. This role would suit an organised and technically minded professional who can coordinate multiple workstreams, maintain high standards and build effective relationships with project teams, contractors and suppliers.
Working alongside project managers and site personnel, you will help ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and contractual requirements. You will be expected to spend time both in the office and on site, depending on project needs.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects.
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, programmes and construction documentation.
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and site teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Monitoring progress, quality, costs and compliance against agreed requirements.
- Preparing technical reports, progress updates, meeting notes and project records.
- Assisting with risk assessments, method statements, inspections and quality assurance processes.
- Identifying potential delays, design concerns or commercial risks and escalating them appropriately.
- Attending site meetings and liaising with stakeholders to support effective project communication.
- Ensuring all works comply with relevant health and safety legislation, environmental standards and project procedures.
About you
You will have experience in a construction, civil engineering or related project environment, ideally supported by a relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a similar discipline. A strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles and project controls is essential.
You should be confident interpreting technical information, using standard project management and document control systems, and working with spreadsheets and reporting tools. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, together with the ability to prioritise work in a busy environment.
A proactive attitude, attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices are essential. A relevant professional membership, site safety qualification and willingness to travel between project locations would be advantageous.
