Electrical Superintendent
An experienced Electrical Superintendent is required to lead and oversee electrical construction, installation, maintenance and commissioning activities across a complex industrial or engineering environment. This role will suit a technically capable professional who can coordinate multidisciplinary teams, maintain high standards of safety and quality, and ensure work is delivered on schedule and within agreed specifications.
You will provide day-to-day supervision of electrical personnel and contractors, allocating resources effectively and monitoring progress against project plans. Working closely with engineering, operations, procurement and safety teams, you will help resolve technical issues, manage interfaces and ensure all activities comply with approved drawings, procedures, legislation and industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise electrical installation, testing, inspection, maintenance and commissioning activities.
- Lead and support electricians, technicians, supervisors and specialist contractors.
- Review work packs, method statements, risk assessments, drawings and technical documentation.
- Coordinate work schedules, materials, equipment and labour requirements.
- Monitor workmanship, progress and productivity, taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, permit-to-work systems and site procedures.
- Identify hazards, promote a positive safety culture and participate in inspections and audits.
- Support fault-finding, troubleshooting and the resolution of technical and operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, test certificates and handover documentation.
- Assist with planning, cost control, change management and contractor performance reviews.
About you
You will have substantial experience in an electrical supervisory or superintendent position, ideally within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, utilities or a similarly regulated environment. A recognised electrical qualification and demonstrable knowledge of industrial systems, distribution equipment, control panels, testing and commissioning are essential. Experience managing contractors and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications is also expected.
Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills are required, together with a methodical approach to problem-solving. You must be confident working under pressure, making sound decisions and maintaining high standards in changing site conditions. A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement is essential. Relevant professional certification, site safety training and experience with computerised reporting systems would be advantageous.
