Foreman – water utility
Foreman – Water Utility
We are seeking an experienced Foreman to lead and coordinate operational teams delivering water utility, network maintenance and infrastructure works. This is a hands-on role for an organised and safety-focused individual who can manage site activities, maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to specification.
You will supervise daily operations across water mains, service connections, repairs, leakage control and associated civil engineering works. Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives, you will allocate resources, monitor progress and resolve issues promptly while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and coordinate site teams, ensuring work is carried out safely and productively.
- Plan daily activities, labour, plant, materials and traffic management requirements.
- Supervise excavation, pipe laying, repairs, reinstatement and other utility construction works.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, risk assessments and method statements.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure work meets relevant standards and project requirements.
- Complete site records, permits, timesheets, progress reports and health and safety documentation.
- Monitor plant, equipment and materials, reporting shortages, defects or damage as required.
- Identify hazards, conduct briefings and promote a positive safety culture on site.
- Support the investigation and resolution of operational, technical and customer-related issues.
About you
You will have proven experience supervising teams within the water, utilities, highways, civils or construction sectors. A sound understanding of water network operations, excavation safety, temporary works and reinstatement practices is highly desirable. You should be confident reading technical drawings and coordinating multiple activities in a busy operational environment.
Strong leadership, planning and communication skills are essential, together with a practical approach to problem-solving. You must be able to work outdoors in varying conditions, respond flexibly to changing priorities and maintain accurate records. Relevant industry qualifications, such as an NRSWA Supervisor certificate, SSSTS or equivalent, would be advantageous. A full driving licence may be required.
In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure works within a supportive and professional team, with access to ongoing training and development.
