Civil Engineer - Land Development
Civil Engineer - Land Development
An exciting opportunity is available for a Civil Engineer to join a busy land development team delivering high-quality infrastructure and drainage solutions for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. This role would suit an experienced engineer or a motivated professional looking to further develop their career within a collaborative and technically focused environment.
You will be involved in projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, approvals and construction support. Working closely with clients, architects, planners, contractors and statutory authorities, you will help deliver practical, sustainable and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet project requirements and current standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review infrastructure, highways, earthworks and drainage designs for land development schemes.
- Produce technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and supporting documentation.
- Undertake surface water drainage strategies, including attenuation, SuDS and outfall assessments.
- Coordinate designs with wider project teams, external consultants and approving authorities.
- Assist with planning, Section 38 and Section 104 submissions and responses to technical queries.
- Support project delivery through tender, construction and site stages, including inspections where required.
- Monitor programme, budget and quality requirements while maintaining accurate project records.
- Contribute to mentoring junior team members and the continual improvement of design standards and processes.
About you
You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or consultancy. A sound understanding of UK highways, drainage and civil engineering standards is essential, together with experience using design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or equivalent packages.
Strong communication and organisational skills are important, as is the ability to manage priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or progress towards professional registration, would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence may be required for occasional site visits.
