An experienced Plumbing Superintendent is sought to lead and coordinate plumbing installation, maintenance and commissioning activities across commercial, residential or industrial projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically capable professional who can oversee site operations, maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
You will supervise plumbing teams and subcontractors from mobilisation through to completion, providing clear direction and resolving technical or operational issues as they arise. Working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and clients, you will help coordinate activities, monitor progress and ensure installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, relevant regulations and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, manage and supervise daily plumbing activities across one or more sites.
- Allocate labour, materials, plant and equipment to meet project requirements.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications and schedules, identifying discrepancies and proposing practical solutions.
- Coordinate plumbing works with mechanical, electrical, construction and other specialist trades.
- Inspect installations, oversee testing and support commissioning and handover activities.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, costs and progress, providing accurate updates to senior management.
- Maintain site records, inspection reports, timesheets and material documentation.
- Promote a strong culture of health and safety, ensuring risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work are followed.
- Support the training, mentoring and development of apprentices, tradespeople and junior supervisors.
About you
You will hold relevant plumbing qualifications and have substantial experience supervising plumbing teams on complex construction or engineering projects. Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, pipework, drainage, water services and associated regulations is essential. Experience with quality assurance, project documentation and construction scheduling would be advantageous.
Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are required, together with the confidence to make decisions in a fast-paced site environment. You should be able to build effective working relationships, manage competing priorities and maintain a professional, collaborative approach. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel between project locations may be required.
