Superintendent
Superintendent
An experienced Superintendent is required to lead the safe, efficient and successful delivery of operational activities across a complex site or programme of work. This is a senior position for a confident leader who can coordinate teams, manage competing priorities and ensure work is completed to the required standards, within agreed timescales and in line with relevant legislation.
You will provide visible leadership on site, working closely with project managers, contractors, technical specialists and operational colleagues. The role requires sound commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to promote a strong culture of safety, quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily site operations, ensuring activities are properly planned, resourced and coordinated.
- Monitor progress against programmes, identifying risks, delays and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements, environmental standards, quality procedures and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams, maintaining clear communication throughout delivery.
- Review method statements, risk assessments, inspection records and other project documentation.
- Investigate incidents, defects and operational issues, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular progress reports to senior stakeholders.
- Support workforce development by setting clear expectations, coaching team members and encouraging professional standards.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a supervisory or site leadership role, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing or another operationally complex environment. A relevant technical qualification or recognised industry certification is desirable, alongside a strong understanding of safe systems of work, quality control and programme management.
You should be organised, decisive and approachable, with the confidence to challenge unsafe or ineffective practices. The ability to build positive working relationships, manage conflict and remain calm under pressure is essential. A full driving licence and flexibility to work across different sites or shifts may be required.
What is offered
This position provides the opportunity to take a leading role in high-profile operational work, with a supportive professional environment, ongoing development opportunities and a competitive benefits package.
