Engineer in Training, Water/Wastewater & Conveyance

We are seeking an Engineer in Training to support the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and conveyance infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, you will contribute to projects involving pipelines, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment systems, storage facilities, drainage networks, and related municipal infrastructure. This is an opportunity to develop your technical skills while gaining exposure to projects from early concept and feasibility through detailed design, permitting, construction, and commissioning.

Key responsibilities will include preparing engineering calculations, technical memoranda, design drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and reports; assisting with hydraulic modelling and system evaluations; reviewing survey information, geotechnical data, and existing infrastructure records; and supporting site investigations, condition assessments, construction inspections, and field observations. You may also assist with tender documentation, contractor questions, submittal reviews, progress meetings, and coordination with clients, regulatory agencies, utility providers, and multidisciplinary project teams. Maintaining accurate project records and applying relevant codes, standards, and health and safety procedures will be essential.

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or a closely related engineering discipline and be eligible for, or actively pursuing, professional engineering registration. Previous internship, co-op, or entry-level experience in water, wastewater, municipal infrastructure, or civil engineering is an asset. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn are important. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydraulic modelling software, GIS, or other engineering tools is beneficial. Occasional travel to project sites and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions may be required.
