Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This role will suit an engineer with experience in civil, environmental, or water engineering who is confident coordinating technical activities, managing project requirements, and working collaboratively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams. You will contribute to the delivery of safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions across a range of treatment, pipeline, pumping, drainage, and utility projects.
Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing designs, specifications, calculations, technical reports, drawings, and project documentation. You will assist with project planning, programming, cost control, risk management, procurement, and contractor coordination, while monitoring progress against agreed scope, budget, quality, and schedule. The role will also involve attending site meetings and inspections, supporting construction activities, resolving technical issues, reviewing technical submissions, and ensuring that works comply with relevant legislation, standards, permits, and health and safety requirements. You may also assist with commissioning, handover documentation, stakeholder communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification and have practical experience in water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, or a related sector. Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, pipelines, pumping systems, hydraulic principles, or construction delivery would be advantageous. Strong organisational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience with engineering design software, project management tools, risk assessments, and technical standards will be beneficial. A commitment to professional development, quality assurance, environmental responsibility, and safe working practices is expected. Depending on project requirements, a valid driving licence and willingness to travel to operational and construction sites may also be required.
