Superintendent II: Traveling
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent II: Traveling to oversee the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of construction projects across multiple locations. This role is responsible for providing on-site leadership, coordinating field activities, and ensuring that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality standards. The successful candidate will travel regularly and serve as the primary field representative, maintaining a professional and collaborative relationship with clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project management teams.
Key responsibilities include planning and supervising daily construction operations; reviewing drawings, specifications, and project schedules; coordinating subcontractors and site personnel; monitoring productivity, workmanship, and progress; and identifying and resolving field issues before they affect project performance. The Superintendent will lead regular coordination meetings, maintain accurate daily reports, track materials and equipment, support scheduling updates, and communicate changes or risks promptly. Responsibilities also include enforcing site-specific safety policies, conducting inspections, supporting quality-control processes, managing site logistics, and ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory requirements. The role may involve overseeing multiple trades and projects simultaneously, often in active or occupied environments.
Qualified candidates should have several years of progressive construction supervision experience, preferably on commercial, industrial, institutional, or similarly complex projects. A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, safety practices, and quality management is required, along with the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead teams while maintaining accountability in demanding conditions. Proficiency with common construction management and reporting software is preferred. Frequent travel and extended stays away from home are essential, and the successful candidate must be able to work outdoors, walk active jobsites, climb stairs or ladders, and respond effectively to changing project requirements.
