Cultural Resources Group Manager – Nor CA
We are seeking an experienced Cultural Resources Group Manager to lead a multidisciplinary cultural resources practice serving projects across Northern California. This role will oversee the delivery of archaeological, architectural history, and historical resources services for public and private sector clients, while supporting the continued growth and development of the regional team. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage client relationships, and ensure that work is completed to high professional, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities will include supervising and mentoring cultural resources staff; planning and managing surveys, inventories, evaluations, monitoring programs, and mitigation efforts; preparing and reviewing technical reports and cultural resources sections for environmental documents; and coordinating compliance with CEQA, NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and applicable state and local requirements. The manager will lead consultation with Native American tribes, agencies, historical organizations, and other stakeholders; oversee schedules, budgets, scopes, subcontractors, and quality control; and contribute to proposals, statements of qualifications, and client presentations. Regular fieldwork and travel throughout Northern California may be required.
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, architectural history, historic preservation, or a related discipline, along with substantial professional experience in cultural resources management. Qualified applicants will demonstrate strong knowledge of Northern California archaeology and history, applicable federal and state regulations, and accepted field and documentation standards. Experience meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards, managing complex projects, and supervising technical teams is preferred. Excellent writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to balance technical quality with project delivery and client service. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are required.
