Drilled Shafts Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Drilled Shafts Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of drilled shaft and deep foundation operations on major civil construction projects. The successful candidate will provide field leadership across all phases of work, including site preparation, casing installation, drilling, slurry management, reinforcement cage placement, concrete placement, testing, and demobilisation. This role requires a strong understanding of production planning, construction sequencing, ground conditions, and the coordination of specialist equipment and crews.
Key responsibilities include supervising forepersons, operators, labourers, subcontractors, and testing personnel; reviewing plans, specifications, geotechnical information, and method statements; developing daily work plans and monitoring progress against programme requirements; coordinating cranes, drill rigs, concrete deliveries, pumps, survey teams, and site logistics; and maintaining accurate records of quantities, production, inspections, testing, and delays. You will identify and resolve technical or operational issues, support cost and resource control, and work closely with project management, engineering, safety, and quality teams. Ensuring compliance with approved procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable legislation will be a core part of the position.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising drilled shaft, piling, foundations, or comparable heavy civil construction activities, preferably on complex infrastructure or commercial projects. A sound knowledge of drilling methods, temporary casing, slurry systems, reinforcement cages, concrete placement, shaft integrity testing, and quality documentation is essential. The role requires proven leadership skills, strong communication, practical problem-solving ability, and the confidence to make timely decisions in a demanding site environment. A relevant trade, technical, or construction qualification is advantageous, as are recognised health and safety certifications, current site credentials, and experience using digital reporting or project management systems. The successful candidate must be willing to work outdoors, manage changing site conditions, and maintain a strong commitment to safety, workmanship, and delivery.
