Drilled Shafts Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Drilled Shafts Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of drilled shaft and deep foundation operations on major construction projects. The successful candidate will oversee field activities from mobilisation through completion, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and site logistics to ensure work progresses in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include planning daily production, reviewing drawings and installation procedures, setting out work areas, and supervising drilling, casing, slurry management, reinforcement cage placement, concrete placement, testing, and shaft completion. You will monitor productivity and quality, identify and resolve construction issues, maintain accurate daily records, and coordinate closely with project management, engineers, inspectors, surveyors, and client representatives. The role will also involve leading toolbox talks, enforcing site safety procedures, inspecting equipment, managing changing ground conditions, and ensuring environmental controls are followed. You will be expected to support project scheduling, provide regular progress updates, and help control labour, plant, and material costs while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising drilled shaft, caisson, piling, or comparable deep foundation operations, preferably on large civil, commercial, transportation, or infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of drilling methods, temporary and permanent casing, slurry systems, reinforcement installation, tremie concrete placement, and foundation testing is required. The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, make sound decisions in the field, and communicate effectively with diverse teams is essential. A proven commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and professional conduct is expected. Relevant trade, technical, or construction management qualifications are advantageous, along with current site safety certifications and a valid driving licence. The role may require extended hours, shift work, and travel or accommodation near project locations.
