Senior Dam Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Dam Water Resources Engineer to provide technical leadership across the planning, design, assessment, and management of dams and associated water infrastructure. This role will contribute to complex projects throughout their lifecycle, from feasibility studies and risk assessments through to detailed design, construction support, operational reviews, and rehabilitation. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, regulators, contractors, and asset owners to deliver safe, practical, and sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities include undertaking dam safety evaluations, hydrological and hydraulic assessments, flood studies, water balance investigations, and consequence assessments. You will prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, specifications, risk registers, and emergency response or operation plans. The role will also involve reviewing instrumentation and monitoring data, identifying performance trends, supporting dam inspections, and recommending remedial or improvement works. You will be expected to provide technical advice to clients and stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, contribute to business development, and manage scope, budgets, schedules, and quality requirements for assigned work.

To be successful, you will hold a degree in civil, water resources, geotechnical, or a related engineering discipline, together with substantial experience in dam engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, or water infrastructure. Professional registration or eligibility for registration is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dam safety principles, flood estimation, hydraulic modelling, risk management, and relevant standards and regulatory frameworks is required. Experience with modelling software and technical design tools will be valued. You will bring sound judgement, strong analytical and report-writing skills, and the ability to communicate complex engineering matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. A collaborative approach, commitment to safety and quality, and willingness to undertake site visits and occasional travel are essential.
