Manager, Rail Extension Integration

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Rail Extension Integration to lead the successful integration of a major rail extension project across planning, design, construction, testing and operational readiness. This role will coordinate interfaces between engineering disciplines, project teams, contractors, operators, regulators and other key stakeholders, ensuring that all elements of the programme work together safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved requirements.

You will establish and manage the integration framework, including interface registers, systems integration plans, technical requirements, assurance activities, risk controls and readiness milestones. Key responsibilities include identifying and resolving cross-functional issues; coordinating dependencies between civil, rail systems, stations, signalling, communications, rolling stock and operational teams; overseeing design and construction interface management; and ensuring that integration risks, changes and decisions are clearly documented and escalated where necessary. You will also support testing, commissioning, trial operations and handover activities, ensuring that assets, systems, procedures, documentation and people are ready for safe entry into service.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience managing integration or interfaces on complex rail, transport infrastructure or similarly regulated programmes. You will bring strong knowledge of systems engineering, project governance, safety assurance, configuration management and operational readiness, together with the ability to interpret technical information and translate it into clear actions. Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the confidence to influence senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams. A relevant qualification in engineering, project management, transport or a related field is desirable, along with experience working within structured assurance, compliance and risk management environments.
