Project Manager/Senior Project Manager (water/wastewater engineering)

We are seeking a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with strong water and wastewater engineering experience to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to manage projects from initial concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, while working with technical specialists, clients, contractors and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of practical, sustainable solutions that support essential water and wastewater services.

Key responsibilities will include managing scope, programme, budget, risk, quality and resources across one or more projects; preparing and reviewing fee proposals, delivery strategies, cost plans and project documentation; coordinating multidisciplinary design teams; and ensuring that technical outputs meet client, regulatory and industry requirements. You will maintain effective relationships with clients and delivery partners, lead project meetings, monitor progress and performance, and provide clear reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Depending on experience, you may also mentor junior staff, support business development activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of project management systems and procedures.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water or wastewater engineering, together with substantial experience delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects. Experience in areas such as treatment facilities, networks, pumping stations, pipelines, flood risk or related utilities projects will be highly regarded. You should have a sound understanding of relevant standards, legislation, health and safety requirements, contract administration and project controls. Strong communication, commercial awareness, leadership and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in a changing project environment. Professional registration or membership of an appropriate engineering or project management body is desirable.
