We are seeking an experienced Rolling Stock Lead to provide technical leadership across the delivery, maintenance, modification and performance improvement of rail vehicles. The successful candidate will oversee rolling stock activities from planning and engineering through to testing, commissioning and in-service support, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable railway standards, legislation and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities will include leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, quality and supply-chain stakeholders. You will develop and maintain rolling stock strategies, technical specifications, asset management plans and performance reports; review designs and engineering changes; and support the resolution of technical issues, defects and reliability concerns. The role will also involve managing suppliers and contractors, monitoring delivery against programme, cost and quality targets, and ensuring that risks, non-conformances and configuration changes are appropriately controlled. You may be required to support depot, fleet and site activities, including inspections, investigations, testing, acceptance and readiness reviews.

Applicants should have substantial experience in rolling stock engineering, fleet management, rail vehicle maintenance or a closely related discipline, together with a strong understanding of railway systems, safety assurance, RAMS, configuration management and regulatory compliance. Experience across areas such as traction and braking, vehicle structures, doors, interiors, controls, passenger information or onboard systems would be advantageous. A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent professional experience is expected, along with the ability to interpret technical documentation, analyse performance data and make sound, evidence-based decisions. Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities in a safety-critical environment. A proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement will be highly valued.
