Environmental Planner II
We are seeking an Environmental Planner II to support the assessment, planning, and delivery of projects that balance environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and community needs. This role will contribute to environmental reviews, impact assessments, permitting strategies, and planning studies across a range of public and private sector projects. The successful candidate will apply sound professional judgment, interpret environmental regulations, and prepare clear, well-supported recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include coordinating environmental documentation and technical studies; evaluating potential impacts related to land use, biological resources, cultural resources, water quality, air quality, noise, transportation, and climate resilience; and assisting with environmental review processes under applicable federal, state, and local requirements. You will prepare and review environmental assessments, impact analyses, technical memoranda, reports, permit applications, staff reports, and public notices. The position will also support project schedules and budgets, coordinate consultants and interdisciplinary teams, respond to agency comments, facilitate stakeholder and community meetings, and present findings to decision-makers or public audiences.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, urban or regional planning, natural resources, public policy, or a related field, along with relevant professional experience in environmental analysis, planning, permitting, or regulatory compliance. Familiarity with environmental laws, planning principles, impact assessment methods, and public engagement practices is required; experience with geographic information systems, technical report preparation, and project management is desirable. The role requires strong research, writing, organization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively with technical specialists, and exercise discretion when addressing complex or sensitive issues. A relevant professional certification or eligibility for certification may be advantageous.
