We are supporting a leading wind turbine OEM with the appointment of an Onshore WTG Commissioning Supervisor for projects across Japan. This is an electrically biased but multi-disciplinary role, responsible for delivering turbine commissioning from mechanical completion through to full operation. You will oversee electrical, mechanical and control system activities on site, ensuring turbines are commissioned safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications and Japanese regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate onshore WTG commissioning activities from installation through to handover
- Lead turbine completion, energisation, start-up and functional testing activities
- Oversee electrical, mechanical and hydraulic commissioning scopes across turbine systems
- Review engineering and contractual documentation to ensure commissioning requirements are met
- Prepare and maintain commissioning plans, schedules and resource requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults across electrical, control and mechanical systems
- Manage and support site teams, including technicians and junior supervisors
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with HSE standards and local regulatory requirements (including METI where applicable)
- Identify, track and close out NCRs, punch list items and technical deviations
- Coordinate with EPC, client and local stakeholders to ensure smooth commissioning execution
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, reporting and handover documentation
Requirements
- Technical qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar
- Strong experience in WTG commissioning, with a clear electrical bias
- Good working knowledge of turbine systems including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components
- Experience with testing, energisation and fault-finding on wind turbine generators
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and commissioning procedures
- Experience working within Japanese regulatory frameworks (e.g. METI) is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead site teams in a construction or commissioning environment
- Willingness to travel and work on site across Japan
