You will oversee a varied portfolio of schemes, which may include flood alleviation, drainage, river restoration, water supply, reservoirs and related civil engineering works. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory bodies, you will provide clear direction throughout each project lifecycle and support the development of innovative, sustainable solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction and handover.
- Develop and maintain programmes, budgets, risk registers and project documentation.
- Lead project teams, allocate resources and monitor performance against agreed objectives.
- Coordinate design reviews and ensure technical, environmental and regulatory requirements are met.
- Manage contractors, consultants and supply chain partners, including performance and change control.
- Prepare progress reports, cost forecasts and updates for senior stakeholders and clients.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues promptly and escalating where appropriate.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental management across all activities.
About you
You will have proven experience managing civil engineering or water resources projects, ideally within a consultancy, contractor or client-side environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water management or a related discipline is desirable, together with relevant professional experience and a recognised project management qualification.
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, contract administration and health and safety legislation is essential. Experience with NEC contracts, flood risk management, drainage or environmental permitting would be advantageous. You will also need excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships.
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects while developing your career in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, alongside opportunities for professional development and progression.
