You will take technical ownership of electrical design activities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers and delivery partners. The position offers the opportunity to influence engineering standards, support the growth of colleagues and play a key role in ensuring projects meet quality, performance, regulatory and commercial requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and approve electrical engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Provide expert advice across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and detailed design through to installation, testing and commissioning.
- Manage technical interfaces with civil, mechanical, controls and other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, British Standards, industry guidance and health and safety requirements.
- Review contractor and supplier submissions, resolving technical queries and supporting procurement activities.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies and contribute to project planning, budgeting and programme management.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and design reviews, providing practical support during construction and commissioning.
- Mentor and develop engineers, promoting consistent technical standards and effective knowledge sharing.
About you
You will be a professionally qualified electrical engineer with substantial experience delivering complex projects in an engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy or built environment setting. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, protection, control and applicable design standards is essential.
Applicants should hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification and ideally have Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards it. You will be confident communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, capable of making sound engineering judgements and comfortable taking responsibility for high-profile deliverables.
In return, you will receive the opportunity to work on challenging projects, influence technical outcomes and progress your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
