Civil Airports Engineer / Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Civil Airports Engineer / Project Manager to lead the planning, design and delivery of airport infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable professional who can manage complex civil engineering schemes while working collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and operational stakeholders.
You will take responsibility for projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, procurement, construction and handover. The role requires a strong understanding of airside and landside infrastructure, together with the ability to balance safety, quality, programme and commercial considerations in a live operational environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of airport civil engineering projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, pavements, drainage, roads and associated infrastructure.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, drawings, scopes of work and construction documentation.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and oversee consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Develop project programmes, budgets, risk registers and procurement strategies, monitoring performance throughout delivery.
- Ensure designs and construction activities comply with relevant aviation standards, health and safety legislation, environmental requirements and quality procedures.
- Support stakeholder engagement, site investigations, tender evaluations, contract administration and technical inspections.
- Identify risks, resolve technical issues and provide clear progress reports to senior stakeholders.
- Promote safe working practices and minimise disruption to airport operations during construction.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have substantial experience delivering infrastructure projects, ideally within an airport, aviation, transport or similarly complex operational environment. Professional registration, or active progress towards it, would be advantageous.
Applicants should have strong project management, technical and commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and experience using relevant design, scheduling and reporting tools. The ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and work effectively under pressure is essential. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may be required.
