Civil Engineer - Land Development
An exciting opportunity is available for a Civil Engineer to join a busy and collaborative land development team. This role will suit an experienced engineer or ambitious design professional seeking the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects.
You will be responsible for preparing and delivering civil engineering designs from initial feasibility through to construction. Working closely with clients, architects, planners, contractors and statutory authorities, you will help develop practical, sustainable and technically robust solutions that meet project requirements, planning conditions and relevant standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design highways, roads, drainage, utilities and infrastructure for land development schemes.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and construction information.
- Undertake surface water, foul water and drainage strategies, including sustainable drainage solutions.
- Coordinate designs with wider project teams, consultants, utility providers and approving authorities.
- Support planning applications, technical approvals and Section 278, Section 38 and Section 104 agreements.
- Review technical information, manage design changes and contribute to project programmes and budgets.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and assist with checking drawings and calculations.
- Attend site visits and meetings, responding to technical queries throughout construction.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or consultancy design. Experience with residential developments and associated highways and drainage design would be advantageous.
Applicants should have a sound understanding of UK civil engineering standards, planning requirements and technical approval processes. Proficiency in industry-standard design and modelling software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar, is desirable. Chartered or working towards chartered status would be welcomed, although applications from suitably experienced candidates are encouraged.
You will be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders. In return, you can expect varied project work, professional development opportunities and the chance to contribute to high-quality developments within a supportive engineering environment.
