Senior Quantity Surveyor
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering a diverse portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in protecting project value, managing commercial risk and supporting successful delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
Working closely with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners, you will provide accurate commercial advice and ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual, financial and programme requirements. The role offers the opportunity to influence project strategy, develop junior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement across the wider business.
Key responsibilities
- Manage all commercial and cost management activities across allocated projects.
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, forecasts, valuations and financial reports.
- Administer contracts, including change control, payment applications, final accounts and extensions of time.
- Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Review tenders, negotiate with contractors and suppliers, and support procurement activities.
- Monitor project expenditure, cash flow and forecast outturn costs, reporting variances clearly.
- Work collaboratively with delivery teams to resolve commercial issues and maintain strong client relationships.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, helping to develop technical and commercial capability.
About you
You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in a construction, infrastructure or related project environment. You should have a detailed understanding of standard forms of contract, cost control, procurement and commercial reporting, together with the confidence to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
A relevant degree or professional qualification is desirable, and chartered membership of a recognised surveying institution would be advantageous. Strong analytical, negotiation and organisational skills are essential, alongside commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and professional standards is also important.
In return, you can expect a competitive salary, opportunities for professional development and the chance to contribute to high-profile projects within a supportive and collaborative environment.
