Construction Project Manager
Construction Project Manager
An experienced Construction Project Manager is required to lead the successful delivery of a range of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This is an opportunity to take ownership of project performance, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure that schemes are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will manage projects across all stages of the lifecycle, coordinating design development, procurement, programming, construction and handover. The role requires a proactive and commercially aware professional who can identify risks early, resolve challenges effectively and maintain strong working relationships across multiple project teams.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, programme and manage construction projects in accordance with agreed scope, budget and timescales.
- Lead project meetings, coordinate consultants and contractors, and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
- Monitor progress, costs, quality and health and safety performance throughout delivery.
- Manage procurement activities, contract administration, variations, valuations and payment processes.
- Review project risks and implement effective mitigation and contingency measures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations, technical standards and site procedures.
- Prepare regular progress reports, forecasts and updates for senior stakeholders and clients.
- Oversee commissioning, snagging, practical completion and the successful handover of projects.
About you
You will have proven experience managing construction projects, ideally within a main contracting, consultancy, developer or client-side environment. A strong understanding of construction methods, project controls, contracts and commercial management is essential. Experience of managing multiple stakeholders and project teams, together with a track record of delivering complex schemes, would be highly beneficial.
Applicants should hold, or be working towards, a relevant qualification in construction, engineering, project management or a related discipline. Membership of a professional body and qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM or equivalent are desirable. Excellent organisation, negotiation and communication skills are required, along with a practical, solutions-focused approach and a strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
