Working closely with senior leaders, governing bodies and school-based teams, you will contribute to the development and delivery of improvement plans, promote consistent standards and ensure that resources are used effectively. You will be expected to build strong, collaborative relationships while offering clear direction, constructive challenge and practical support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across designated schools, services or operational areas.
- Support school improvement, quality assurance, curriculum development and the evaluation of pupil outcomes.
- Advise headteachers and senior colleagues on performance, safeguarding, inclusion, staffing and compliance matters.
- Monitor educational and operational data, identify trends and implement targeted improvement activity.
- Lead, manage and develop teams, fostering a culture of accountability, professional learning and continuous improvement.
- Oversee budgets, resources and projects in line with agreed priorities and statutory requirements.
- Represent the service at meetings with partners, families, professional networks and external agencies.
- Prepare clear reports, recommendations and briefings for senior decision-makers and governing bodies.
About you
You will hold a relevant degree-level qualification and substantial senior leadership experience within education or a comparable public-service environment. A recognised teaching or professional leadership qualification is desirable. You should have a strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, school improvement and relevant legislative frameworks, together with a record of delivering measurable improvements.
Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills are essential. You will be confident managing complex priorities, making evidence-based decisions and working sensitively with a wide range of stakeholders. A commitment to equality, safeguarding and the wellbeing of children and young people is fundamental.
This role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, strengthen practice and make a lasting contribution to educational success.
