Superintendent 1
Superintendent 1
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Superintendent 1 to provide operational leadership, technical oversight and effective coordination across a range of services and activities. The successful candidate will help ensure that work is delivered safely, efficiently, compliantly and to the required standards, while supporting a positive and professional working environment.
Working with managers, operational teams, contractors and stakeholders, you will plan and monitor daily activities, allocate resources and respond promptly to changing priorities. You will be expected to make sound decisions, maintain clear records and contribute to the continuous improvement of procedures, performance and service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate operational teams, ensuring duties are completed effectively and in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Plan workloads, allocate staff and equipment, and monitor progress against deadlines and performance requirements.
- Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety, security, quality and environmental compliance.
- Inspect work areas, identify risks or defects, and arrange appropriate corrective action.
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to team members, contributing to training and professional development.
- Maintain accurate operational records, prepare reports and communicate updates to relevant colleagues and stakeholders.
- Investigate incidents, complaints and operational issues, escalating matters where necessary and recommending practical solutions.
- Support the implementation of new processes, policies, projects and service improvements.
About you
You will have relevant supervisory or operational experience, ideally within a regulated, technical, facilities, infrastructure or public service environment. You should be confident leading teams, managing competing priorities and applying policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner.
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels. You must be able to use standard office and operational systems, produce clear written information and remain calm when dealing with challenging situations. A relevant qualification, professional accreditation or equivalent practical experience would be advantageous.
This role may involve working varied hours, attending different sites and responding to operational requirements outside standard working patterns. A commitment to integrity, accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement is expected.
