You will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, utility providers and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical, environmental and regulatory requirements. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects from feasibility and concept design through to construction and completion.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Support the delivery of utility infrastructure and associated civil works, including pipelines, chambers, access roads, drainage and earthworks.
- Interpret surveys, site investigations, utility records and other technical information.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, contractors and statutory authorities.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys, recording progress and identifying technical issues.
- Assist with construction planning, risk assessments, programme management and cost control.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant standards, health and safety legislation and environmental requirements.
- Provide technical support during construction and help resolve design or site queries.
About you
You will be a qualified or part-qualified Civil Engineer with experience in utilities, infrastructure, highways, drainage or a related discipline. A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering is desirable, together with an understanding of relevant British Standards, design codes and construction practices.
Applicants should be confident using civil engineering design and technical software, with strong analytical, communication and organisational skills. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, drainage design packages or similar systems would be advantageous. You should be able to manage competing priorities, work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
This role may suit an engineer seeking professional development, increased project responsibility and the opportunity to work on essential infrastructure that supports communities and businesses. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may be required.
