Preconstruction Manager
Preconstruction Manager
An experienced Preconstruction Manager is required to lead the early stages of major construction projects, ensuring schemes are commercially robust, technically deliverable and aligned with client expectations. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional who can bring structure, insight and collaboration to the preconstruction process.
You will manage projects from initial opportunity through tender, design development and contract award. Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you will coordinate all preconstruction activities and help develop efficient, buildable solutions that meet programme, budget, quality and sustainability objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and management of tenders, budgets, estimates and value engineering proposals.
- Coordinate design development, ensuring information is complete, compliant and suitable for construction.
- Develop and maintain procurement, risk, design and preconstruction programmes.
- Review contract requirements, project scope, specifications and technical documentation.
- Identify commercial, technical and delivery risks, putting appropriate mitigation strategies in place.
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
- Support negotiations and the smooth handover of projects to the delivery team.
- Contribute to improving preconstruction processes, reporting and project governance.
About you
You will have proven experience in a preconstruction, estimating, design management or commercial role within the construction or built environment sector. A strong understanding of construction methodology, procurement routes, building regulations, health and safety requirements and contract administration is essential.
Excellent communication and leadership skills are required, together with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities. You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident reviewing complex technical information. Experience of working on large-scale commercial, residential, infrastructure or mixed-use developments would be advantageous.
In return, you will receive the opportunity to work on varied and challenging projects, develop strong professional relationships and play a key role in shaping successful schemes from inception through to delivery.
