Civil Engineer III
Civil Engineer III
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer III to support the delivery of complex infrastructure and development projects. This role will involve providing technical leadership across the project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to construction, commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders to deliver safe, sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
You will be responsible for managing key engineering activities, ensuring that designs meet relevant standards, planning requirements and project specifications. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a varied portfolio of civil engineering work while mentoring less experienced colleagues and helping to improve technical processes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review and approval of civil engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Manage design packages, programmes, budgets, risks and technical deliverables across multiple projects.
- Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, environmental, transport and other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians and external design partners.
- Assess site conditions, investigate engineering issues and develop practical, compliant solutions.
- Support planning applications, permits, procurement activities and construction-phase technical queries.
- Attend site visits, design reviews and progress meetings, monitoring quality and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve sustainability, constructability, safety and whole-life value.
Essential experience and qualifications
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have substantial professional experience in the design and delivery of civil infrastructure or development projects. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or active progress towards professional registration, is desirable. Experience with relevant British Standards, design guidance, health and safety legislation and project controls is essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, together with sound commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise competing demands. You should be confident using industry-standard design and project management software, interpreting technical information and presenting recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This role suits a proactive, analytical engineer who takes ownership, works effectively in a team and is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project and construction sites may be required.
