Project Engineer, Land Development – Civil Engineering
An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Engineer to join a collaborative civil engineering team delivering high-quality land development projects. This role would suit an experienced civil engineer who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to approvals, construction and completion.
You will be responsible for producing practical, compliant and commercially aware engineering solutions for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. Working closely with clients, authorities, contractors and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil engineering designs for roads, earthworks, drainage, utilities and infrastructure works.
- Develop technical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports and approval documentation.
- Coordinate planning, environmental and statutory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, risks and deliverables in collaboration with senior team members.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, local authorities and utility providers.
- Support tendering, procurement, construction monitoring and the resolution of technical queries.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to continuous improvement across the team.
About you
You will hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or consulting. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or active progress towards professional registration, would be advantageous.
Strong technical knowledge of residential or commercial development projects is expected, including experience with drainage design, highway layouts, earthworks and relevant UK standards. Familiarity with design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar tools would be beneficial.
You will be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with a range of stakeholders. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. In return, you can expect varied project exposure, professional development opportunities and the chance to contribute to a supportive, forward-thinking engineering environment.
