Superintendent (MEPS)
Superintendent (MEPS)
An experienced Superintendent (MEPS) is required to oversee the successful delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services across major construction or engineering projects. This role will provide visible leadership on site, ensuring that installation, testing and commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and programme requirements.
You will coordinate specialist subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and project teams, acting as the key point of contact for all MEPS-related matters. The successful candidate will be confident managing complex interfaces between building services, structural works and architectural finishes, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise MEPS installation activities from construction through to testing, commissioning and handover.
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements and inspection documentation to identify risks, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate subcontractor performance, labour, materials, plant and access requirements to maintain progress against programme.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and design teams to resolve technical issues and manage changes effectively.
- Monitor quality, health and safety, environmental and statutory compliance across all MEPS works.
- Attend progress meetings, provide accurate reporting and maintain records of inspections, defects, test results and completed works.
- Support the development of commissioning plans and ensure systems are fully operational before handover.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising MEPS works on sizeable construction, infrastructure or industrial projects. A strong understanding of relevant British Standards, building regulations, health and safety legislation and commissioning processes is essential. You should be able to interpret technical drawings, manage competing priorities and communicate clearly with people at all levels.
A recognised technical qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, building services or a related discipline is desirable. Relevant site-management or supervisory training, together with appropriate industry certification, would be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised professional who can promote collaborative working, uphold high standards and deliver reliable building services within a demanding project environment.
