Reference: qsrym0dyuwn0d2tlknd8

We are seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially viable estimates for a range of projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement colleagues and suppliers, you will assess drawings, specifications, schedules and other technical information to establish the labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs required for each project. You will contribute to bids and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring all estimates are completed within agreed timescales and reflect the required scope of work.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing customer requirements, identifying risks, assumptions, exclusions and potential value-engineering opportunities, and obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations. You will maintain detailed estimating records, cost databases and pricing schedules, while presenting clear cost breakdowns and supporting documentation for review. You will also assist with post-tender analysis, monitor market trends and material prices, and share lessons learned to improve future estimating accuracy. Where required, you will support the handover of successful bids to delivery teams and help resolve commercial or technical queries.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a cost estimating, quantity surveying, commercial or similar role, ideally within a project-based, construction, engineering, manufacturing or related environment. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, analysing data and using spreadsheets or estimating software to produce reliable cost models. Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills are essential, together with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines. You will be a clear communicator who can build effective relationships with internal teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and who understands the importance of confidentiality, accuracy and commercial judgement. A relevant qualification or practical experience in estimating, quantity surveying, engineering, construction or procurement would be advantageous.
