Cost Management Associate

We are seeking a Cost Management Associate to support the delivery of accurate, timely and commercially focused cost information across a portfolio of projects. This role is suited to an organised and analytical professional who enjoys working with financial data, project teams and stakeholders to help maintain strong cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation and maintenance of cost plans, budgets, forecasts and financial reports; monitoring expenditure, commitments, accruals and variations; and investigating discrepancies between approved budgets and actual costs. You will help track project changes, assess their financial impact and ensure that relevant records and approvals are maintained. The role will also involve supporting monthly reporting cycles, preparing cost summaries and dashboards, contributing to risk and opportunity reviews, and providing clear explanations of cost movements to project and commercial teams. You may also assist with procurement activities, invoice reviews, payment applications and the preparation of information for internal and external audits.

Applicants should have experience in cost management, project controls, finance, quantity surveying or a related discipline, ideally within construction, infrastructure, engineering, property or another project-based environment. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential, along with confidence working with spreadsheets and financial systems. Experience using cost management, enterprise resource planning or project reporting software would be advantageous. You should be comfortable handling detailed information, identifying trends and presenting findings in a clear and practical manner. Excellent organisation, attention to detail and communication skills are required, as is the ability to manage deadlines and collaborate effectively with colleagues, suppliers and project stakeholders. A relevant degree, professional qualification or progress towards one is desirable.
