Water/Wastewater Engineer
We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to support the delivery of safe, sustainable and cost-effective infrastructure projects across the water and wastewater sector. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the planning, design, assessment and delivery of schemes ranging from water treatment and supply infrastructure to sewerage, drainage and wastewater treatment assets. This role will suit an engineer who is technically capable, commercially aware and committed to delivering high-quality solutions that meet regulatory, environmental and operational requirements.
Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and design documentation; developing engineering solutions in accordance with relevant standards, legislation and client requirements; and supporting feasibility studies, optioneering, detailed design and construction activities. You will liaise with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders, attend site visits and design meetings, and provide technical advice throughout the project lifecycle. You will also assist with programme and budget monitoring, risk management, design reviews and technical assurance, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainability. Depending on experience, you may also provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to bids, project proposals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, chemical or water engineering, together with relevant experience in water or wastewater projects. Knowledge of treatment processes, hydraulic principles, pipeline and network design, drainage, flood risk or asset management would be advantageous. Experience with industry-standard design and modelling software, as well as strong technical report-writing and communication skills, is desirable. You should be able to manage competing priorities, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate sound judgement when resolving technical challenges. Professional registration, or active progress towards chartered status, would be welcomed. A full driving licence may be required for site-based duties.
