We are seeking an experienced Grading Superintendent to oversee earthwork and site grading operations across the South Central District. This role is responsible for coordinating field activities, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The successful candidate will lead grading crews, coordinate equipment and materials, and work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to deliver successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities include planning daily and weekly grading activities; interpreting construction plans, specifications, and elevation data; directing cut-and-fill operations, site preparation, drainage, compaction, and fine grading; and monitoring production against project schedules. You will inspect work in progress, identify and resolve site issues, verify grades and quantities, and ensure completed work meets design requirements and applicable regulations. The role also includes coordinating heavy equipment movements, supporting equipment maintenance, managing labour resources, completing site documentation, and communicating progress, risks, and changes to project leadership.

Applicants should have substantial experience supervising grading or civil construction operations, preferably on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or land development projects. Strong knowledge of earthwork methods, GPS and machine-control systems, surveying principles, soil types, compaction requirements, and site safety practices is required. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader who can motivate crews, make sound decisions under pressure, and maintain productive relationships with multiple stakeholders. A relevant trade qualification, technical diploma, or equivalent field experience is preferred, along with a valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel between project sites throughout the district. Proficiency with construction documentation, scheduling tools, and digital reporting systems would be an advantage.
