Civil Engineer - Stormwater (PE)
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater and water resources projects. This role will support public and private development, transportation, municipal infrastructure, and environmental improvement projects, with responsibility for producing practical, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will apply sound engineering judgment, demonstrate strong technical leadership, and contribute to projects from initial feasibility through detailed design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing stormwater management plans, drainage studies, hydraulic and hydrologic models, floodplain analyses, erosion and sediment control designs, detention and retention facilities, conveyance systems, culverts, outfalls, and green infrastructure solutions. You will develop calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and permit applications, while ensuring deliverables meet applicable regulations, standards, and project requirements. The role will also involve managing project schedules and budgets, coordinating with surveyors, planners, environmental specialists, contractors, and reviewing agencies, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and designers. Occasional site visits and construction support may be required.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, along with an active Professional Engineer (PE) licence in the applicable jurisdiction or the ability to obtain one within an agreed timeframe. Relevant experience in stormwater, drainage, water resources, or civil infrastructure design is required, including proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software and computer-aided design platforms. Knowledge of municipal, state, and federal stormwater regulations, permitting processes, and best management practices is essential. Strong written and verbal communication, project management capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also important. Experience with sustainable drainage, nature-based solutions, flood resilience, or construction administration would be an advantage.
