We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Water Resources to lead the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of water production, treatment, distribution, and related infrastructure in Thomasville, Georgia. This position oversees daily field and plant activities, coordinates crews and contractors, and ensures that services are delivered in accordance with regulatory, operational, and customer service standards. The successful candidate will provide visible leadership, promote accountability, and support a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include supervising, scheduling, and evaluating employees; coordinating preventive maintenance and emergency response activities; monitoring water system performance; and ensuring that facilities, equipment, vehicles, and tools are properly maintained. The Superintendent will review work orders, operating reports, inspection findings, and service requests, taking corrective action when necessary. Additional duties include supporting capital improvement projects, obtaining materials and services, managing departmental resources, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with budget preparation and expenditure control. The role also requires effective communication with internal teams, contractors, regulatory representatives, and members of the public.

Applicants should have substantial experience in water or wastewater utility operations, infrastructure maintenance, or a closely related field, including demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical training, an associate degree, or relevant professional certification is preferred. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of water system operations, safety practices, maintenance procedures, and applicable environmental and public health regulations. The position requires sound judgment, problem-solving ability, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency with operational records and standard computer applications. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to work outdoors, respond to emergencies, and participate in on-call or after-hours coverage may also be required. Relevant state-issued water or wastewater certifications will be considered an advantage.
