Strategic Permit Manager, Land Development
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Permit Manager, Land Development to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of complex permitting strategies for major land development projects. This role will provide specialist advice across the project lifecycle, from early feasibility and site due diligence through to approvals, construction and delivery. You will work closely with internal project teams, consultants, government agencies, utility providers, landowners and community stakeholders to secure timely, compliant and commercially sound outcomes.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing permitting roadmaps; identifying approval requirements, risks, dependencies and critical path activities; coordinating planning, environmental, civil, infrastructure and building approval processes; and monitoring applications from preparation through to determination. You will review technical documentation, manage external consultants, prepare briefing material and provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve maintaining approval registers, tracking conditions, resolving issues with relevant authorities, supporting negotiations and ensuring that permit obligations are understood and effectively managed throughout project delivery. You will contribute to process improvements, standardised reporting and strategic engagement approaches that improve certainty, efficiency and project outcomes.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in land development, planning, infrastructure, construction or a related permitting environment, with a strong understanding of statutory approvals and regulatory frameworks. A relevant qualification in planning, urban development, environmental management, engineering, project management or a similar discipline is desirable. You will demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills, together with the ability to interpret technical information, manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a complex environment. Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, attention to detail and confidence working across multidisciplinary teams are essential. Experience managing large or strategically significant development programs, engaging with public authorities and navigating approval risks will be highly regarded.
