Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. The role will involve managing projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, drainage, and associated civil and mechanical infrastructure. You will be responsible for defining project scope, developing delivery programmes, coordinating design and construction activities, and ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include managing project teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders; monitoring progress against agreed milestones; controlling costs, variations, risks, and commercial performance; and maintaining accurate project records and reports. You will lead regular progress meetings, resolve technical and operational issues, support procurement and contract administration, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, environmental requirements, and health and safety procedures. The role will also require effective communication with clients, regulatory bodies, local authorities, and affected communities, together with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

Applicants should have substantial experience managing water or wastewater infrastructure projects, ideally within a design-and-build, consultancy, contractor, or utility environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred, along with relevant professional membership or project management certification. Strong knowledge of project controls, contract management, construction methodologies, risk management, and health and safety is essential. You will need excellent leadership, negotiation, organisational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure. A proactive, commercially aware approach and a commitment to quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
