We are seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of water-related infrastructure and environmental projects. The successful candidate will contribute to studies and schemes involving flood risk management, drainage, surface water, river systems, water supply, and sustainable water management. This is an opportunity to work on varied projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and develop practical engineering solutions that meet technical, environmental, regulatory, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities will include preparing hydrological and hydraulic assessments, developing drainage strategies, carrying out flood risk and catchment analysis, and producing technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. You will use appropriate modelling and design software to assess existing conditions, test proposed solutions, and support the design of resilient infrastructure. The role will also involve reviewing data, interpreting survey information, coordinating with engineers and technical specialists, attending site visits, supporting construction queries, and contributing to project programmes, budgets, and risk management. You may also assist with planning submissions, stakeholder engagement, and the mentoring of junior team members.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, along with relevant professional experience in water resources, flood risk, drainage, or hydraulic design. A sound understanding of industry standards, environmental legislation, and sustainable drainage principles is essential. Experience with hydraulic modelling packages, GIS, CAD, and standard engineering software would be advantageous. You should be analytical, organised, and able to communicate technical information clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and contribute positively within a collaborative team is important. Professional accreditation or progress toward chartered status is desirable, but applications from engineers with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
