Water Resources Leader

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Leader to provide strategic direction and technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of water-related programmes. This role will suit a collaborative professional who can combine strong expertise in water resources planning, catchment management and infrastructure with the ability to guide teams, influence stakeholders and deliver high-quality outcomes. You will contribute to the development of long-term strategies that support resilient, sustainable and efficient water systems in response to growth, climate change and evolving regulatory requirements.

You will lead the planning and delivery of water resources projects, including demand forecasting, supply and demand modelling, drought and resilience planning, catchment assessments, water security studies and options appraisal. Responsibilities will include setting technical standards, reviewing and assuring complex analysis, managing budgets and programmes, and ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and industry guidance. You will identify risks and opportunities, develop evidence-based recommendations, and translate technical findings into clear advice for senior decision-makers and external partners.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in water resources, environmental planning, hydrology, asset planning or a closely related discipline, gained within a consultancy, utility, government, regulatory or infrastructure environment. A relevant degree or professional qualification is desirable, together with a strong understanding of water resources policy, environmental regulation, climate adaptation and data-led decision-making. You will be an effective communicator with proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, building trusted relationships and managing competing priorities. Commercial awareness, sound judgement and the ability to champion innovation and continuous improvement are essential.
